Photography is life

I find myself in the photos I take. By taking pictures, I express my feelings and I can describe myself. If a photographer can’t feel what he’s looking at, then he’s never going to get others to feel anything when they look at his pictures. I used to hold my camera everywhere with me because I don’t know when the right moment to take a picture will happen. Photography is the only language that everyone can understand and it’s the art that no one can master as what Henri Cartier said:” Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.”

Dreams

Nothing is impossible. That was the sentence that I used to hear from my mom but I didn’t believe in it. Since I was a child, my mom used to teach me new things and she always told me:” Don’t forget to be someone special in the world. Always try new things and follow your dreams.” I didn’t clearly understand what she meant until I knew about King’s Academy. Studying in King’s Academy became my dream and it was hard to achieve it because it required smartness and excellent English language. Because I was in a public school, my English was not that good because I had teachers who didn't study in great schools and a bad quality of education in the English books we studied from ,so I had to study to improve my English skills. I read many books and I tried to learn new vocabulary words. When the day came to do the SSAT exam, I was extremely scared because I asked people about this exam and they all told me how hard the SSAT exam is hardbut my mom told me to never give up. I did my best in the exam and I waited for my grade. After two months of waiting, King’s Academy called me and they told me that I’m not accepted in their school. I forgot my mom’s wisdom and I gave up. I felt that the whole world is done and that I lost my dream. It was a big surprise that after about six months King’s Academy called me again and they said:” congratulations, you’re now one of our students.” When I heard that, I cried and I was so happy and proud of myself because my dream has became true. In that day, I completely understood my mom’s wisdom and I knew that nothing is impossible in this world. Never give up in your dreams. All your dreams can come true, if you have the courage to pursue them.

The Special Gift

A mother is a star in stars. She’s the only person who gets your back when you need someone to help you. Try to dive deep in your memories and you’ll find your mom always standing beside you, helping you, and taking care of you. A mother suffers to give her child birth and to give him love and care until he becomes an independent adult. She’s the person who understands what you don’t say, and she helps you get over all the difficulties. A mother is a teacher for her child. She teaches him compassion, love, and fearlessness. Love your mother and take care of her. As what Mother Teresa said:” Love begins by taking care of the closest ones- the ones at home.” We are all busy growing up, and we forget that our mothers are growing up too. Don’t forget to enjoy every moment with her and always make her smile because her smile is a piece of heaven. No place is safer than a mother’s arms and there is no prettier smile than her smile, and there is no love greater than her love. A mother is a true friend for her child because she is the only person on Earth who wants her child to be better than her. A mother can take anyone’s place in your heart but no one can take hers. She’s the best gift from god and she’s the only person who deserves your love.

The responsible Freedom

Freedom of speech is a big word with a deep meaning, and people can understand it in different ways. It is important to hear people’s voices demanding for their rights publicly without fear. Freedom in general means to let people live their lives freely. It is important to allow people to be creative. Like what Nelson Mandela said:” Money won’t create success, the freedom to make it will.” That means that if people had the freedom to achieve their ambitions, they will reach success and they will make good things in life. Freedom of speech specifically means the freedom of declaring opinions, thoughts, ideas, and demanding for rights. There is no democratic country, if there is no freedom of speech. It is important to have a good education. Students will be able to learn, ask questions, and say their ideas out loud for everyone without limits. People won’t learn without asking questions, and they won’t ask questions if they are afraid of regulations. It also improves people’s knowledge. people can share ideas and discuss opinions, so they can learn from each other. That is how the community will have an intellectual nation, with the freedom of expressing feelings and declaring opinions and by involving information between people. Also, freedom of speech leads the country to make changes in it. This helps to make evolution in the government and in the people themselves by free-thinking and an open-mind. By freedom of speech people can change the injustice laws. Therefore, the country will improve with a democratic government and a happy nation. In addition to this, when the people lose their freedom of speech, they will lose their identity and their dignity. Because the person who can’t rise his voice above oppression, has no reason to live and has nothing to fight for.

A freedom without limits is a destruction for the community because it allows people to do everything without any constraints even if it was atrocious. Like cracking the governmental offices demanding for something, or making fun of other religions under the freedom of speech which is disrespectful for each other, that will cause problems between the people who have different beliefs or opinions and perhaps that will let the people kill or hurt each other. We could see many crimes and fights in our real world happening because of that. For example, what happened with “Nahed Hattar”. He shared a caricature making fun of Islam. Then a man came and killed him. This is an example of what happens when the freedom is not limited and when people don’t respect other’s freedom of speech. Nahed made fun of Islam thinking that that is the freedom of speech, and the other man killed him without thinking about the limits that Jordan has. The man actually was punished by the government because he crossed the limits. In addition to that, having no limits will destroy the government’s role in the country and no one will listen to its guidance. That means that if the government doesn’t control its people, they will rebel, destroy, object, and they won’t listen to the government’s laws. Another example about freedom of speech happened in Syria few years ago. When some kid’s decided to express their feelings about the war by drawing pictures and writing the word “ارحل” or “Leave” in English, on the school wall. After few days, the Syrian army came and take these kids to jail. Then they killed them. This story shows the unfair laws in that country because the kids had freedom of speech and they just expressed their feelings by small drawings. Like these problems happens when the country has very hash limits for freedom of speech and that means that the country doesn’t have democracy.

We can solve this problem by many logical and democratic salutations. For example, the government can give people the opportunity to say their opinions and demand for their rights in a good way, by making a conference with the people so they can join the government in making decisions and they feel that they are a part of the community. when people feel that they are included in the community as an important part, they will work harder to Improve their country and they will use the freedom of speech in a good way to defend their country. Also, making limits for freedom is helpful to control people’s actions towards the differences between each other or towards the laws. In this way, no one will make fun of something that belongs to another like his religion or country. And there is a wisdom in Arabic says: “your freedom ends when other’s freedom begins” And that means that people should stop what they do or say when they cross the limits of other’s freedom Also, the country can but punishments for the people who cross the limits so they will be afraid of doing something wrong and they will just follow the rules. In addition to that, people should learn how to respect other’s freedom of speech and other’s opinions. Government can teach students that in schools and universities because they can learn and understand freedom of speech better when they are in a younger age. This will help to make a good civilization with an educated people and will help to make an organized and an evaluated country. It also creates a democratic country with a happy nation and a successful life.

The hero in the kitchen

What do you like the most about your job? That was the first question that I asked for Mr.Mouath Dyab, even before I asked him about his job. Then he kindly answered: I like the way that the students smile when they see their favorite food cooked.

Mr.Mouath is the official of the night shift at the kitchen at King’s Academy. His work starts at 2pm and ends at 10pm. I asked him about the biggest problem that they face on work, and he told me that they don’t like the students who keep asking for boxes before 7:30pm. The real reason of that rule is because that the students keep the food on the box for more than 2 hours and the food spoils.
I enjoyed my time talking with him about his work. And I also asked him about his dream. I said: “Mr.Mouath, do you believe in dreams? And what do you think about the person who hasn’t a dream to achieve?”  He answered: “everyone has a dream, if someone doesn’t have a dream or an aim in his life, so he hasn’t any reason to stay alive, because life without dreams is nothing. DREAMS ARE THE OXYGEN OF OUR LIFE.” So I directly asked him about his dreams and he said that he wish to work in a five stars’ hotel and to be a famous cooker. He said: “That is the place which I wish to reach one day.”

Mr.Mouath is one of the heroes, they have the hardest work at King’s. Every day they have to cook for all the students, teachers, workers and every single person at King’s. They cook three times a day. And that’s a big challenge. I asked him about how can they finish cooking at the right time, and how can they cook for all these people. He said:” Managing time is the most important thing we do at King’s. We divide the work between us, so everyone has to finish his work, and then we set the tables.”

He has three children and he lives in Madaba. He’s a real hero, because he works for 8 hours then he comes back home to see his family and that’s a very big sacrifice from him, just because he loves his work.
His favorite food is (Mlokheeh). And he loves to cook all the meals. He says that cooking is his soul, and he can’t live a day without making food. He said: “Cooking is my fourth son.”
If you had the chance to be in someone else's place, who would you choose? I asked him. He told me that
he would be in Ola Bseso’s place. He wishes to be like her and reach her place one day.
The wisdom that he believes in is “Never give up on your dreams” Everyone can do that. If you believe in your dreams, you will work so hard to achieve them.

Mr.Mouath started working at King’s Academy since 2007. And he said that the best thing that happened at King’s that he knew a lot of good friends who will never find anywhere else.
He told me that he wishes to take more courses in cooking to improve his skills to be the best chief at King’s.
He would never go to another place to work on, because he likes everything about King’s. His friends, the students, the kitchen and every small detail about his job.
I liked talking with him and I knew lots of things about his life. He’s a great and a giving person. And even though he was busy, he gave me a part of his time to interview him and to talk with him about his work.

I learned lots of things from him. And I knew the real meaning of dreams. And he taught me a very important thing. That the person can’t live without dreams. And the most successful person is the one who can pass the problems in his life with smartness and wisdom.

My brother
Actually I always wished to have a brother, I sometimes feel really sad when I see a brother and his sister laughing together, and I wish to be like her one day. When I came to SEP, I knew a lot of boys who can be like my brothers, but just one boy became like my real brother. I felt the feeling of having a brother when I knew Ahmad. We shared a lot of things like a brother and a sister, and when I feel sad, I always talk to him, because he is my brother and he knows how to make me happy. Having a friend like Ahmad is one of the best things that happened in my life, he’s a very kind person and he treats me like his little sister. If someone asked me one day if I have a brother, I would directly answer:” yes, I have a brother called Ahmad”

He’s one of the best people that I know. he’s my big brother and he’s the only person who I can trust.
If you have a brother you’re lucky and you should be happy for the rest of your life. And If you have a brother like mine you have everything. And you have a person who you can depend on if you need anything.

A brother is the only person in the world how would help you from the bottom of his heart, and he’s the only boy on earth who deserves to give all of your love for. Ahmad is a great brother, and I’m really glad to be with my brother in the same school, so I can find someone who would help me even if I didn’t ask for help and he’s the one who will pick me up if I fall.

Sometimes gifts can be a person, and the best gift ever, is to have a brother like Ahmad.
